We are all surrounded by electrical products in our day to day lives. it could be phone chargers, extension cables or power outlets All this stuff has become a regular part of our lifestyle. However, all crawling babies have one common agenda – to grab, poke and suck everything electrical they can find. So, It is very important to create a safe zone for our kids by installing proper electrical switchgear and human safety devices at your home.

Here’s an easy guide on how to help you out.

1. Cover your sockets or install a shutter safe socket.

Generally, a power socket is installed down the wall. Installing shutter safe sockets is the best option to go for as you don’t need to put a tape on the switchboard and peel it every time while plugging the cord. But, if you have already installed the normal socket, go for socket cover which can be purchased online from amazon.

2. Don't leave loose cords and charging cables around.

Don't know why, but baby always gets fascinated to open cable. it may be your extension cord cable/charging cable. So, get a cover or cable wire cord organizer to keep them out of trouble. You can also manage cables with zip ties or cover them with a wrap like the one in the picture.

3. Install Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB)

Finally, a technical solution to all-round protection from electric shock apart from baby proofing.  an RCCB is useful when earthing is missing in any building. An RCCB is a differential current sensing device, which contains a switch device that immediately trips off in case of a leakage fault and does not return through neutral. It should be installed at the main distribution box. It disconnects the power supply within a fraction of second if residual current flows through any other medium (maybe the human body). Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) should be installed to provide protection against current leaks due to any damaged wiring, the safety switch will come to your rescue by disconnecting the power within a fraction of a second.
